Gret’hl Van Hoyweghen
President of the Board of Directors and General Assembly
Gret’hl has been at Willis Towers Watson for about 25 years. Gret’hl is Director Consulting Services, Senior Actuary, member of the Retirement Solutions leadership team and the general management team of Willis Towers Watson in Belgium.
She has extensive experience in all aspects of Employee Benefits consulting, and she has a thorough knowledge of the pension and insurance market in Belgium, including legislation, tax and governance aspects.
Gret’hl qualified as appointed actuary according to the conditions of the Royal Decree of 22 November 1994. She is appointed actuary for many Belgian pension funds and has wide experience advising and assisting clients on all aspects of benefits as well as on actuarial aspects such as plan design, IAS/ASC715 reporting, funding, M&A, de-risking, employee communication etc.
Gret’hl holds degrees in Mathematics and Actuarial Sciences from the KU Leuven (Catholic University of Leuven) and she is member of the Institute of Actuaries in Belgium (IA|BE).
Vice-President of the Board of Directors
Sven has been with Willis Towers Watson since 1994 and is Director Consulting Services and senior consulting actuary. He is a commercial engineer and obtained a degree of actuarial sciences from the KU Leuven (Catholic University of Leuven) and he is member of the Institute of Actuaries in Belgium (IA|BE).
Sven brings significant experience to the team as benefits consultant and investment consultant as well. He provides advice in relation to all aspects of pensions and supplementary employee benefits: accounting (IAS19 and ASC715, previously FAS87), pension plan design, implementation, funding, employee communication etc. And as investment consultant supervising various annual projects, mainly for larger pension funds. He also led several M&A and due diligence pension projects in Belgium.
Independent Director of LifeSight
Edwin is Managing Director of Pensioenfonds KBC, the pension fund of KBC Group, the second largest banking and insurance group in Belgium.
After a career in the legal department and the credit department of KBC Bank, he was appointed managing director of KBC’s pension fund in 1997. With 1,8 bn euro assets under management, Pensioenfonds KBC is the third largest pension fund in Belgium.
Edwin is also Vice President of the Belgian Pension Fund Association and an independent trustee in the Euroclear Pension Fund and the Willis Towers Watson Lifesight OFP.
Edwin holds a degree in law from the University of Brussels and the University of Michigan Law School.
Representative of Willis Towers Watson NV in the General Assembly
Paul is Director Retirement Solutions in the Willis Towers Watson Brussels office and member of the management team of Willis Towers Watson NV. Paul has 30 years of experience as an actuary, especially in the field of benefit plan design, financing methodology, mergers & acquisitions and communication of supplementary benefits. Furthermore, he has a profound knowledge of the international accounting standards relating to employee benefits.
Paul has built his experience subsequently with various insurance companies of the ING-group, where he was, amongst others, the appointed actuary with various actuarial consulting firms for the life insurance portfolio. He has been with Willis Towers Watson since 2004.
He holds a master's degree in quantitative economics from the University of Antwerp and in actuarial sciences from the KU Leuven (Catholic University of Leuven). He also holds a degree in commercial and financial sciences specializing in tax law (EHSAL). Paul is the appointed actuary for several Belgian pension funds and is member of the Institute of Actuaries in Belgium (IA|BE).
